Pre-move Preparation
Our Team’s moving methods have been refined through the years in order to perform quickly and efficiently on behalf of our customers. Our methodology includes using two move teams. This approach means that while one team packs and loads the trucks at origin, the other team unloads the trucks and places the items at destination. Productive work time is maximized and the customer’s hourly expenses minimized by eliminating the need to transport a single team back and forth between sites.
Our Team personnel will schedule a pre-move meeting with the customer’s move team to discuss specifics of the relocation:
- Pick-up & delivery locations
- Inventory of items to be moved and/or disassembled/assembled
- Move phases/dates
- Equipment/personnel needed to complete move/installation
- Building management guidelines
- Schedule the move in the shortest possible time span while eliminating downtime and controlling costs
TBS will perform the relocation services in accordance with the highest standards for the office-moving industry. Included are:
- Assisting the customer’s move committee in planning the relocation and instructing personnel prior to the move. (Note: At least one supervisory person of our organization will become an advisory member of the customer's move committee and will be expected to attend all committee meetings.)
- Padding and protecting all furniture, equipment, and fixtures to be moved.
- Packing designated items.
- Providing specialized protection for walls, doors, floors, elevators, etc., at both locations
- Scheduling truck sizes and type in conformance with move requirements. Special handling and scheduling of data processing and purchasing and supply needs
- Physically transporting goods from existing locations to new location(s) in accordance with established time schedules.
- Placing goods in designated areas at the new location(s).

Protecting the Space
Our Team exceeds the level of building protection called for by many building managers and takes considerable time placing floor, wall and corner protectors to insure the space is in as good a condition when we leave as when we arrive. Our crews are trained to protect your furniture and your offices from damage during the move process.
Our Team will protect your elevators by using elevator pads provided by us when such are not available from the building manager. This gives us the ability, once we obtain permission, to protect additional elevators and thus speed up the move process.
Our Team will protect your floors (hardwood, marble, carpeted or tiled). Use of tempered Masonite is installed to prevent scuffs, marks or bunching. Sections of Masonite ranging in size from 4' x 8' for wide corridors and lobbies to 2.5' x 3 for narrow hallways are placed end-to-end and taped in place with 3" wide duct tape to prevent shifting.
Kraft paper or quilted paper pads are placed under the Masonite to prevent damage to high gloss finishes. Our Team will protect walls by utilizing triple-strength, hard cardboard guards in the shape of an "L" and ranging in size from 4' high to 6' high placed on corners, doorjambs, elevator openings or other sharp edges. They are normally taped or held in place by the corrugated wall materials. Guards can absorb considerable impact without damage to the area they are protecting.
All walls in high traffic areas are covered by 5' high, rolled, corrugated coverings, smooth on one side and fluted on the other to absorb impact. Their primary function is to prevent dirt smudges, but they also serve as a visual reminder to maintain a respectable distance. The coverings are held in place by taping to doorjambs or by leaning small sheets of Masonite against them. Tape is never applied directly to the wall.

Origin & Destination Site Preparation: Coding and Layout
A multi-colored coding system has been developed in order to ensure the right item gets to the right destination. Each color represents a different floor or different area within the floor. In turn, each color is subdivided into numerical locations. Directional placards are located at all major junctions to support this coding system.
Numbering systems for rooms and areas designated by the designer or architect will be incorporated into our tagging procedures as we color code the plans. We will work in conjunction with your interior designer to coordinate codes and furniture layouts.
Organization Floor plans or blueprints will be utilized to control the proper flow and placement of items during the relocation as follows:
- Floors divided by segment indicating color coding and actual placement
- Locations where masonite and other protective materials will be installed
- Wall protection locations and type of material to be used
- Designated delivery routes and installation schedules for the various segments
Tagging
Each box and piece of furniture to be moved will be tagged with a color-coded label.
